Week Ahead: Aug. 8-12

What a great first week back!  And now is the time we’ve all be prepping for … STUDENTS!  As you settle on your plans for the first class with students, perhaps keep these questions at the front of your mind: What emotion do you want students to walk out of that class feeling?  What might you want them to share with their parents about their first experience in your class?  What would get your students excited to come to the next class?

Staying Up on Important Information of the Day:

A lot is coming at all of us in preparation for the year.  In order to help keep tabs of important documents, times, and events, I will be sending a morning update this week.  This is just one additional way to help support you by keeping information at the top of your email box.  In general, this email will not include new information.  It will just be a reminder and contain relevant materials and links.  If there is any urgent change that impacts the day, this will be noted in the subject line and highlighted clearly in the email message.

This is a practice we began when information was coming fast and furious during COVID.  However, it is a reactive method and not a proactive one.  With that in mind, we only use this method when things are exceptionally hectic.  In general, we do not use a daily email from admin.  We will rely on this blog to share that type of information.  Please make sure to bookmark this blog for easy access!

Key Points from Daniel M:

As we get systems set and sorted for the year, here are a few reminders from Daniel’s presentation.   MS – Tech Orientation document

  • All assignments and information for students will be coming through Schoology.
  • When setting meetings, please use Google calendar appointments.
  • When syncing grades from Schoology to PowerTeacher/School, make sure to only sync the individual assignment.
  • Use HelpDesk for all tech related requests.  This helps establish an understanding of needs and patterns.
  • The MS Division shared drive is our primary working drive.  Please start curriculum work in the shared drive and then copy to your MyDrive to share out from there.
