PTCs:

As we get set for PTCs, here are a few logistical details:

  • We will all be in the gym.  This will shorten transition times for parents/students and make it easier for them to get from conference to conference.
  • We will sound a bell at the transition times to help end conversations that might be going a bit long.  The bell will sound at the 7 min. mark.
  • Thao has sent out information via email about food that will be provided during conferences; breakfast and lunch (Salad bar, Pizza, Banh mi 362 and Mexican food) for Thursday and Friday, Please be sure to put in your Tippy’s order by Monday at 1:00.
  • All tables will have an electrical outlet for charging; and a large name sign so parents can easily find you.
  • You can check your sign-ups in SchoolsBuddy.  You can also ask Thao to create a printout for you if that is easier for you.  Please note that we anticipate adding parents in on the day of conferences as well.  Sometimes they arrive thinking they have a schedule – so we create one for them from open times.  We will try to alert you ASAP if this happens.
  • Tracking conferences: Each year we track conferences.  We will do this using SchoolsBuddy data.  All you need to note are no shows.  I will send the tracking document on Thursday morning.
  • Plan ahead for student confidentiality.  At no time should you share a grade book screen that includes other children’s information.
  • Consider bringing down your teacher chair 🙂  We will have seating provided, but it is the blue chairs.  Your teacher chair might be more comfortable for you.
  • And as always, ask your questions!  We want to make sure you are comfortable and are supported.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

You may have noticed that the week of Nov. 14-18 is filled with A LOT of things.  Jan Chappuis is here to work with all of us in large and small groups on SBTL; the PTA is hosting a Teacher Appreciation lunch; we have an author visit; and we are hosting our first MRISA tournaments in 3 years.  We will also be doing our final prep for the following week’s WWW trips.  It will be a very exciting week (and an exciting “next” week too).  We will definitely NOT add anything else to the mix for this week.   [Please also know that there were no other scheduling options for these events; only week Jan was available; VN Teacher Appreciation day is a national event; the author just happened to be here in VN this week enabling us to have him visit at very low cost; MRISA was scheduled a year ago; and WWW was scheduled to fall after MRISA]

(From last week) FALL BREAK AND HOMEWORK:

For MS, we believe breaks are for both teachers and students.  From our student handbook: In general, homework will not be assigned during Fall Break, Winter Break, Tet Holiday, or Spring Break.  While we might encourage a student to use the break to get caught up on past work, no new work or work on existing projects should be expected.
