Splash Day:  This a very fun (and tiring) day.  Big thanks to our committee – Greg Jardin (taking lead), Gregor Berger, Robert Appino, Zach Post, Kat Fox, and Molly – for setting up new, exciting games.  Please read the directions for ALL stations prior to Tuesday.  You will be traveling with your advisory and will need to assist at all stations. There will also be a faculty member and parent volunteers helping run each station – but they need you to also know what is going on.  This schedule includes the groupings.

Bridge Ceremony:  This is a newer tradition where the 5th grade students symbolically cross from the ES to MS over the bridge.  We greet them on our side with applause and cheers as we line the hallways and stairs.  Please take your H block students to the following locations: 2nd floor classes stay on 2nd floor, 3rd floor classes will fill the 2nd floor hall, line the stairs, and start on the 1st floor; 4th floor and 1st floor H block classes will line the 1st floor hall.

Summer Building Projects :  We received final confirmation about summer building projects.  Just like last summer, there are many, many projects being undertaken.  Here is the list of things happening in Bldg A this summer.

  • Replace divider curtain in gym; add curtains to upper windows for sound dampening; add sound panels to reduce ambient noise
  • Paint interior classrooms (using newly approved paint pallet colors; softer grey wall color with 1 accent wall color), offices, and canteen
  • Roller blinds in all classrooms, floors 1-3
  • Begin replacement of cabinetry in classrooms (starting with under the window shelving; modular rolling cabinetry to replace built ins in the fall after prototypes are tested)
  • Privacy screens added to all boys bathrooms
  • Refurbishment of hallway lockers
  • Replace locker room lockers
  • Expansion of Robotics/Coding room (enclose 2nd floor foyer w/class); remove 2 banks of lockers, add half wall windows and trophy cases; add shelving and cabinetry in server room, A209 and A213
  • Electrical: Transformer upgrade – from 500 KVA to 750 KVA
  • AC: Replace Chiller and Chiller Control Panel
  • AC: AHU – Air filter to replace
  • Sprinkler: replace pump, from building A to B

Closing Up Your Room:  Because of the summer projects, there are a few things that you will need to do in your room for the summer.

  1. Clear out the shelves under the windows.  You can put all those things in the opposite wall cabinets.
  2. Remove all things from the walls and bulletin boards (all surfaces will be painted).
  3. Secure all belongings in the locking cabinets (there will be many workers around this summer and the building may not be very secure).
  4. I recommend having students assist with this if you happen to have any down time this coming week.

Returning Student Clearance:  Students will be emailed clearance directions and the Google Doc on Monday, June 6th.  Cells that are empty and colored green mean the student has been cleared for that item.  Cells that have an X in them mean that the student has not been cleared for that item.  Advisors are asked to help encourage kids to complete outstanding items.  Students need to be cleared by Wednesday, June 8.

Withdrawing Student Clearance:  Withdrawing student (those not returning next year) will have a paper clearance form.  This form will be due to Admission by Wednesday, June 8 (at least I think that is the date .. I am checking all this with Bonnie who usually takes care of all withdrawing students).  Please do not delay signing these forms.  The stress this causes is magnified by the stress of leaving school.

Teacher Clearance:  Teachers also have to complete clearance tasks.  These are done them same way as students.  If the box is empty and highlighted green, that task is complete.  If the box has an X, the task is yet to be complete.  The columns are controlled by the person listed in row 5 at the top of the column.  Many of the tasks will be completed on June 9 and 10.

  • This the the form:  MS Teacher check out form
  • All teachers need to complete the Summer Information and Maintenance form.  MS Summer Information and Maintenance Form  Maintenance requests should include any repairs and fixes that need to be done over the summer.
  • Follow David’s Digital Dust email directions:  Please take a few minutes before you leave for the summer and clean up your digital dust.  Delete or remove unneeded files form your P drive, the courses folder and the exchange folder. If you have not accessed a file in over a year please remove the file and store it on an external drive.  Please note: The exchange folder is a temporary storage place and will be cleared out over the summer break.
