Soliciting Interest in WASC Service
|Dear SSIS Faculty –
While our own visit looms just two weeks away, I am soliciting you for interest in serving on a WASC visiting team as early as this spring.
The working is exhausting, the hours long, and there is no pay—and you’ll come away feeling its the best PD you have ever done in your career.
Several weeks before the visit you read the school’s Self-Study. You’ve just helped create ours and you know these are very large and dense tomes.
During the visit you will spend four to six days at the school visiting every classroom and meeting with parents, students, faculty, administrators and sometimes board members. You’ll evaluate their goals for the future and add suggestions based upon your particular expertise and observations.
You’ll come away with new ideas for how to improve your own school as well as a deeper appreciation for the hundreds of things your school does right.
If interested, please add you name to this sign-up sheet. If you have done a recent training, please indicate which year. If you haven’t, there is a two-hour webinar you can watch. (link is to the right)
What types of people are they looking for? Administrators, teacher coaches, heads of department, grade or team level leads, people with a special knowledge in areas such as language, EAL/ESL, learning support, guidance, etc. —it all depends on the school to be visited.
If you have any questions, please ask.
Sincerely yours,
Mark
PS – Why do I list the passport country? Visas and travel restrictions sometimes make it advantageous to select one visiting team member over another.
