Confucius says, “Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation, there is sure to be failure.”
Throughout the challenges that our community faces due to the COVID-19 situation, SSIS remains dedicated to providing our students with uninterrupted high-quality learning experiences.
As Confucius so wisely stated, success depends on previous preparation, and the success of Virtual School has in part been due to the familiarity that students, teachers, and parents had with the technology we use. In these dynamic times of uncertainty, it would be foolhardy to ignore the wise words of Confucius.
That is why SSIS will simulate a full campus closure this Thursday, March 5. This simulation or pretend closure will ensure that we can continue providing your child with high-quality learning experiences, regardless of the teachers’ locations, in the unlikely event of a full campus closure.
Virtual School will continue as scheduled during the simulation, and will thus have minimal impact on your family. This is what will happen on Thursday, March 5:
- Virtual School will continue as scheduled for all grade levels.
- The campus will be closed to everyone (only security will be on campus).
- No library pick-up or drop-off will be available.
- All teachers and administrators will work from home.
- All staff will be reached by email, as usual.
On Friday, March 6, all teachers and staff will report back to campus as usual, and library pick-ups and drop-offs will recommence.
As a final note, please be reminded that the SSIS Virtual School Parent Feedback closes on Wednesday, March 4 at 4 pm. This survey is an opportunity for you to share your family’s personal feedback about Virtual School. Your voice is important, as we continue improving your child’s Virtual School experience.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
All best wishes,
Dr. Catriona Moran
Head of School
