The Character Strength of Kindness

Several of the articles previously shared in this blog mention the importance of doing for others to build community which supports one’s well-being. To help with this process, the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation provides a lengthy list of healthy activities that we can do for others and for ourselves during this time of stress and anxiety. Here are a few to entice you to take a look at their offerings:

-Enroll in the free Yale Course on The Science of Well-Being
-Learn a new hobby via YouTube
-Do virtual tours of museums from around the world
-I am not sure if it is on their long list but when was the last time that you went through your photos? Use your Chromecast or other connection tool to display the images and videos on your television.
-And one more bonus item, look to follow photographers and artists on Instagram to have a daily “beauty break” to start your day with aesthetics, gratitude and kindness for yourself!

An additional benefit of the Random Acts of Kindness site is the Educator section where you can set up an account to have access to their free lesson plans for integrating the character strength of kindness into your curriculum.
