99. Update: Strict Lock-Down in HCMC, Here is How to Prepare

Dear Faculty and Staff,

This afternoon, the Government has announced that stricter measures will be in place from August 23 in Ho Chi Minh City in order to control this current outbreak.

Here is what you need to do, and know, now.

Purchase Food and Plan Groceries for 2 Weeks

As we do not know with certainty how long this will last, you should ensure that this weekend, you purchase enough food and essentials for two weeks.

In an effort to support our faculty and staff in acquiring the food and essentials you need for these two weeks while avoiding large crowds, Phu My Hung has activated this online shop this afternoon. We have been told that they can only provide this service in Phu My Hung.

Please note that you must order before 10:00 pm tonight, Friday, August 20. Your order should be delivered this weekend.

We are extremely appreciative of Phu My Hung’s support and service to our SSIS community. Phu My Hung cares about our community, and their whole team is working hard to make this service happen for us, even facilitating deliveries themselves.

Police Receiving Support from the Military

People are reporting that the military is on the streets of HCMC. Please do not be alarmed. The government has solicited the help of the military to enforce the lockdown measures of Directive 16.

We hope that having this information is helpful. There is no doubt that this is a challenging time. But, I hope that SSIS and Phu My Hung are providing the support that you need to the best of our ability. Please do not hesitate to contact WaiMun or me if you have any questions or concerns.
