Head of School Update: Expectations for Semester 2 Start

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Ringing in 2022 by bringing six grade levels back to campus is a wonderful start to our second semester. Students need to be in school and we will be ready to make this experience a positive one.  Having observed the campus reopening pilot before the holiday, and considering our professional experienced, and dedicated team, I am very confident that we will successfully re-open for grades 7 – 12 next week while we continue the excellent virtual school program for all other grade levels.

I expect that you may have many questions and wonderings and over the course of the next few days and on Monday, the Leadership Team and I will do our best to provide guidance and clarification, starting with the details outlined below.

Working from Campus

As we begin to welcome more students back to physical school, we expect all teachers to work from campus starting Monday, January 10, and on.

Before returning to campus, all teachers and staff should complete a COVID self-test. The government requires SSIS to report any cases, so we trust you will let us know if you test positive. Also, please remember that you must remain at home if you are exhibiting any flu-like symptoms, and please inform the SSIS Health Office.

Full Faculty Meeting, Monday, January 10

Next Monday, as you may have seen in my previous email, there will be a breakfast treat at the Plaza, so please stop by on your way to your classrooms. I look forward to personally welcoming you back.

Also, there will be a full faculty meeting via Zoom on Monday from 9:00 – 9:45 am (Zoom link). 

EC – G6 Return Not Yet Known

At this time, only children in grades 7 – 12 are allowed on campus, regardless of the circumstances. The government has not officially announced the return date for EC – G6. Please keep this in mind when communicating with parents and students. Please do not speculate when EC – G6 will be allowed to come back to campus.

Cafeteria

The cafeteria will be open on Monday, and box lunches will be available for purchase.

Pool and Fitness Center

We know that many of you have been looking forward to using the pool and our beautiful new fitness center, and I’m very excited to let you know that they will be open next week. We ask that you read the guidelines at the entrances, as they outline occupant limitations and other protocols for safe use.

Return to Campus Q&A Session for Parents

This evening, we host a Return to Campus Q & A session for all parents of students in grades 7-12. We will be sure to share the recording with you tomorrow.
