2016 Head of School Survey

Dear Faculty and Staff –

Those of you who were here last year will remember that we began surveys for all administrators last spring. If we believe that honest, supportive feedback can help us grow and improve, then it is as important for administrators to hear from faculty and staff as it is for faculty to hear from their students (as our teachers did this fall).

This week we are opening the Head of School Survey which is available here. The survey opens today and will remain open until the end of the school day next Wednesday, 9 March 2016. We are trying this year to spread out our survey requests (Head of School, principals, other admins) so as not to tax you excessively during a busy second semester. We know that many of you suffered from “survey fatigue” last year when surveys came too close together.

A few question you might have if you are new or don’t remember our practices from next year:

  1. The survey is issued from a SurveyMonkey account which is under the sole control of Ms. Ha Noi in the HRD office. It is completely anonymous. No one sees the individual responses except for Ms. Ha Noi. All data is shared in aggregate form to the HoS or principal.
  2. All faculty and staff are invited to take part. This includes teachers, teaching assistants, etc. – anyone who receives the faculty-staff emails.
  3. The results of my survey are shared as is, and without editing, with our board chair. She’ll get the results very shortly after we close the survey instrument next week.
  4. As soon as she has received the survey results and has had time to read and digest them (including all free response questions), the board chair and I will meet to discuss the survey results.
  5. Soon after that meeting I deliver a reflection to her on the survey, an abbreviated version of which I will share with the faculty.

I appreciate your time and attention to this survey. Your feedback is helpful to me.

Sincerely,

Mark
