Message from Head of School & Parent Letter: Meet Our New Faculty, 2023-2024)
|Dear Faculty and Staff,
This morning, during one of the exercises in a workshop at the EARCOS Heads Institute in Luang Prabang, Laos, I was reminded how important it is to take time to reflect on the year, the work done, the accomplishments, and how we’re feeling at this time.
I wish to pass that sentiment on to you all, as I know what a busy semester it has been. You’ve ensured that our students are engaged in meaningful and engaging learning experiences by collaborating, learning, and contributing to this great community yourselves.
Thank you. I truly hope that the break provides the rest and relaxation that you all deserve after your hard work and dedication these past three months.
Next Thursday, when we return, Dan Kerr, the incoming Middle School Principal, will be visiting. He will be followed by Don McNamee, the new Educational Technology Director, who arrives on May 6. They are looking forward to spending time with our community and learning more about our school. I hope you will each have an opportunity to say hello and make them feel welcome. They’re very excited to be joining SSIS.
As you head into this weekend, whether you’re enjoying the days off in HCMC or elsewhere, enjoy your time off from work, unwind, and savor the respite before the whirlwind of events that the end of the school year usually heralds.
All good wishes,
Catriona

Dear SSIS Parents,
As we eagerly anticipate the extended weekend, I wish you and your family a delightful and restful break. Quality family time is essential for our community’s well-being, and I hope you are able to make the most of this time together.
In the spirit of continuous growth and improvement, I am thrilled to introduce you to the faculty members joining SSIS in August. You can read their bios here.
After the long weekend, two of them, Don McNamee (below, left), our newly appointed Director of Educational Technology, will return for a second visit to SSIS. A few days before his arrival, Daniel Kerr (below, right), next year’s new Middle School Principal, will visit and meet with parents for the first time.
We are confident that our new faculty’s expertise, passion, and dedication will further enhance the outstanding educational experience we provide our students.
Your feedback is essential in ensuring we provide your children with the best opportunities possible. On that note, we are so grateful that more than half of you were able to participate in our most recent community survey, and I look forward to presenting the results at my Head of School Coffee on Tuesday, May 30, from 8:15 – 9:45 am.
We remain committed to nurturing a positive and vibrant learning community. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in our mission to empower students to reach their full potential.
Wishing you a wonderful extended weekend, and we look forward to welcoming students back to campus on Thursday, May 4.
All good wishes,
Dr. Catriona Moran
