All School Committees for 2016-2017
|Dear Colleagues –
Yesterday I spent a rather enjoyable few hours discussing part of Chapter 4:Section A of the WASC report. Our section dealt with governance and leadership (board, admin, teacher-leaders), as well as with employment issues and PD. I always learn a great deal from candid discussions and am sure every group leader appreciates all of your contributions to yesterday’s session.
This year there are a number of opportunities for faculty to contribute to the growth and development of SSIS through all school committees. It is not our practice to have every person serve on a committee every year. That just leads to committees of unwieldy size and members of these committees who are not always passionate about the topic.
Instead, we advertise for interest and then build committees based on expressions of interest and our responsibility to make sure that our teachers don’t take on too much in any given year. We love your enthusiasm – we also want to protect your time for your essential role of classroom teacher.
Please look through this Google form and let us know if you are interested in serving on one or more committees. If you need clarification on anything, you can always drop me an email by return.
We’ll begin collating results and discussing committee make-ups as early as Monday, so the soon you can get this done, the better. It should not take more than a few minutes.
Appreciatively yours,
Mark
