Fantastic week- thank you!

Dear Faculty & Staff,

It has been an incredibly positive and productive week. Between the Topping Out ceremony, program planning, WASC Work, MS Curriculum night, and Data in a Day today, in addition to the wonderful learning and activities you and your students were engaged in all week.
The letter below to parents only captures a smidgen of the great work going on at SSIS; there is so much to celebrate. I can’t thank you enough for your dedication and hard work.
I hope you enjoy this afternoon’s WASC collaborations.
Have a great weekend!

Dear SSIS Parents,

This past Tuesday, we celebrated a significant milestone – the Topping Out Ceremony for our new Middle School building and our STEAM/Design Center! This ceremony marks the completion of the structure. From now until the project is handed over at the end of March, you will see how our beautiful new facilities transform into the stunning renderings of our building page.

As magnificent as our new facilities promise to be, the programs they will enable will be just as impressive. The leadership team and I are working with our faculty, external educators, and industry leaders worldwide to ensure we offer the most cutting-edge courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

We were honored to have Board Chair Gayle Tsien, center, attend the Topping Out Ceremony.
On Wednesday, our high school Science teachers toured the STEAM/Design Center for the first time. Even with the bricks, concrete, and scaffolding, you could see their eyes light up as they envisioned the state-of-the-art laboratories and interactive learning spaces where your children will engage in scientific exploration, artistic expression, and technological innovation.

A critical part of ensuring that all of our students continue to thrive and meet with the greatest success is our school’s stable and sustainable growth. Just as you have high expectations for your children, we have high expectations for our students. I assure you that we will maintain our rigorous enrollment requirements and optimal student-teacher ratios.

Each of these investments in our school’s people, places, and programs is a testament to our Board’s commitment to our mission, ensuring our students’ intellectual and personal development so that they go on to live purposeful lives as global citizens. Let these new facilities serve as a reminder of that each day, and inspire us all to strive for a greater purpose.

All good wishes,

Dr. Catriona Moran
Head of School
