Project X– On our early release PD day on May 19th we will be learning about Project X and inquiry based learning.  Next year all students at SSIS from grades 2-9 will be participating in a week long open inquiry project between winter and Tet breaks.  Teachers from all divisions of the school will be supporting our students during the week for short segments of time.  A lot more info will come on May 19.  Please note that this project will not take HS teachers away from their AP and IB classes during that week.
StuCo Election Assembly– It’s almost election time. Â StuCo will be hosting it’s elections on Tuesday, May 23 at the end of the day. Â After the last block of the day, students will walk down to the auditorium for election speeches. Â The special schedule of the day is here. Â Shortly after the speeches, students will have the opportunity to vote electronically. Â See William Medina or Chris Wolf if you have any questions.
Comments for Seniors– Since we just completed comments for Q3 for the seniors for the few weeks you’ve had before their departure at the end of April, you need not write comments for every senior.  The only students you are required to write comments for are for those students that dropped more than 10% (one grade level) from their Q3 marks.
Master Schedule and Advisory for 2017-18– The master schedule is almost complete. Â A special thanks to the department heads, David and Nghi (ICT), Robert, Chris and Erin (Counseling) and Tim for finding creative solutions to the issues that arose along the journey. Â The master schedule is 99% finished at this point. Â Additionally, you can see the advisory grade level teams for next year. Â Grade 9 and 10 teams will stay in place for the most point to ensure continuity in regards to our WWW trips. Â Most grade 11 advisory teachers will continue with their same students during their grade 12 year to continue building relationships through graduation. Â A few grade 11 and 12 advisors remain on the same grade level to refine the advisory curriculum for the 2017-18 school year.
