Student Names for All HS Courses 2017-18
As we mentioned at our faculty meeting today we are renaming and combining our grade level lead and advisory program developer positions. We added the advisory program developer position this year because we completely revamped and created a new pastoral focused advisory program. We did not want to saddle this responsibility with the grade level lead, as we wanted to ensure a strong foundation was laid for the 2017-18 school year. Now we are combining the positions and renaming them to create a singular point person for everything in that grade level. The grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 deans will provide oversight and leadership for most aspects of the grade level. While the foundation for the curriculum for our pastoral advisory program has been laid this year and our counseling department (Sean, Erin and Robert) will provide much guidance with our advisory program, the dean will help tweak and provide real time feedback to make changes to the advisory lessons when necessary. Deans will be representing their advisory grade levels that were shared last week.
Project X Clarifications– After the May 19th early release PD on Inquiry Based Education and Project X, the department heads, Tim and I have received a number of questions.  Some staff got the impression that teachers would lose all of their prep time during this week.  While we do not have a schedule set yet, this is an inaccurate perception.  We believe there might be one prep lost during the week at most.  More specifics will come when we return from summer break.  Additionally, some staff expressed worry about being able to coach students effectively during this week.  There was some concern about necessary PD in this regard.  All staff will be trained to effectively coach our students during this process.  Much more specific info will come during our August in-service, but I wanted to clarify a few issues.
