Weekly Update: February 26 – March 2
|Welcome Back!
We hope you had a wonderful Tet break. Our family enjoyed a trip to visit friends in St. Petersburg, Russia. Believe it or not spring break is around the corner in 4 weeks. Much of the information this week is from the last post that included two weeks.
Have a great weekend!

Semester Two Exams. Please identify on this document which of your courses do you want to write a Semester Two exam in the gymnasium.  YES mean you want the students to write an exam in the Gymnasium.  NO means that you are not requesting students to write an exam in the Gymnasium. To clarify all courses need to have some sort of culminating exam, project, presentation, etc. These grades will be entered in Exam column of PowerSchool for 20% of the semester two grade.  Semester Two Exams in Gymnasium Request
Welcome Hillary Banks– We have hired Hillary Banks to assist our grade 11/12 parents, students and teachers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the counseling office in Robert’s absence. While we are unaware of Robert’s exact return date, she will remain with us to support the counseling office for the entire semester. Hillary is a certified counselor that was a HS counselor at the the American International School here in HCMC. Most recently she has been a stay at home mother and subbing a bit at our school. We are extremely lucky to have her expertise for the remainder of the year. She and her family will be moving to the Lincoln School in Nepal at the end of the year. Please join me in welcoming her. Please drop by and introduce yourself to her.
Counselors Gone Wed-Friday– Erin and Sean will be gone next Wednesday-Friday for the ISCA counselors conference in Bangkok. Hillary Banks and/or Colleen Hsu will be here to support student needs in their absence.
End-of-Year Group 4 and dead week–Â Â The HSLT has been working on some key dates and programmatic changes for the end of the year. Â We finalized these at our meeting this week and wanted to share these with you for planning purposes.
May 23: Last day for new content
May 24-31: Only review information (no new content), no HW, quizzes/tests that impact student grades (except final exam/project). Â This is also known as a dead week. Â If a teacher has a summative project such as a final exam, students are able to work on this during dead week.
May 24-31: Review time with students (grades 9 & 10)
May 24-25: Â *Group 4 Project (all grade 11 students are off time table and working on Group 4 for two days)
May 28-31: Review time Grade 11
May 28-30: **Y1 students completing their IOCs for English
June 1-6: Final Exam Schedule
June 7: Last day of school (early release)
Further notes:
*We are moving the Group 4 Project out of WWW time, so that all science teachers and labs are available to support students.
**IOCs should not impact students missing classes. Â These will take place during English class time or study halls. Â In a rare instance, a handful of students might have to miss part of another class. Â If this is necessary, information will be shared with impacted teachers at least a month before the date.
Please see your department head, Tim, or me if you have any questions.
