IB Update October 1-5

EE First Drafts – Extension until 03 October

As you are aware, the EE deadline has been extended to Wednesday, 03 October due to student workload. Please keep in mind major deadlines and refer to the deadline calendar for grade 12 students to get an idea of the pressures facing student. While we cannot avoid all pinch-points, anything you can do to ease student stress is appreciated.

Additionally, we hope to alleviate many of these concerns for the May 2020 cohort by shifting some IA drafts into year 1 of the program. Please consider what you can do to shift some of the current fall semester workload into year 1 for your students. This doesn’t have to be an entire IA draft — it can be establishing a research question, a plan for the execution of an IA, background research on a topic, etc.

A deadline calendar for the May 2020 cohort is in the works and will be released shortly for your feedback and suggestions.

Upcoming Grade 12 Deadlines:

• October 1 – English L&L HL Written Task #1 due
• October 2 – English Lit Written Assignment due
• October 3 –EE First Drafts due!
• October 5 – Math SL and Studies IA draft due
