During the advisory time you will have approximately ten minutes to meet with each of your advisees to review S1 progress and touch base with how school/life/college stuff (for seniors) is going. This time is a wonderful opportunity to meet with each of your advisees and get a better sense of how they are doing. Some teachers prefer to conference with students privately and accomplish this by meeting one on one in the hallway. Feel free to do this.

Charmaine will also be using this time to conference with small groups of grade 12 CAS students. Senior advisory teachers please see the CAS conferencing schedule so you can plan to meet with your advisees outside of their scheduled CAS meeting.  Students should come to the HS Guidance office 5 minutes prior to their scheduled meeting time. Charmaine has shared the meeting times with students.

For advisory student conferences I have created a Semester One Reflection_2015-16 that was shared with all students via Doctopus (so no need to copy and rename). Students will need to: 1) Open the shared reflection document 2) share  the reflection with their advisory teacher.

During the conferencing time please meet first with your students who may find completing a reflection independently a struggle. You can verbally go through the reflection and then ask them to complete the formal reflection after your conference. For all other students they should work on the reflection while you are meeting with other students.

Please use the reflection to guide your conferences in addition to looking at PowerSchool grades and comments.

STUDENTS OF CONCERN: Thank you to all teachers for participating in the grade level student of concern meetings. We appreciate your feedback on how to continue to make these meeting more productive. One suggestion was to embed links to each grade level SOC meeting notes in the counselor corner, thus starting today you will find links to the SOC notes in the below images. Thank you for your continued engagement.

SAT Test: Saturday, January 23rd at 8:00am-1:00pm

Students will be testing in the Auditorium

UNIVERSITY VISITS: A key part of the college decision-making process is finding a good fit. A key part in the admission process is demonstrating fit and interest. The university representatives that visit SSIS are often reading our students’ applications and making admission recommendations. Therefore, it is important for students to participate in university visits. Please encourage students to attend information sessions, which occur in the HS library unless otherwise indicated.

Tuesday, January 19, 12:40-1:30- Musashino University
