Jacob’s Journal: August 28

Many of you have noticed that the high school feels a bit more crowded this year.  There’s a reason why…because it is.  In fact, we have over 40 more students than last year (46 to be precise).  If you factor in our new 9th graders this equals almost 40% new faces on our campus.  Growth comes with positives and challenges.  From space issues like a crowded Kiosk to class sizes growing towards our maximum of 22 in some grade levels, we are faced with some new hurdles.

On the other side of things, new blood in the high school is a great for our community.  New students, new ideas, and fresh leadership to mention a few.  It will also help us as we build the master schedule for the 2016-17 school year which should result in fewer co-listed classes.

Those of you that have been in Vietnam for a few years know what growth looks like, as you have seen this country transform itself firsthand.  Maybe a by-product of this new growth will help us clearly define who we are and where we are going as a high school in the coming weeks and months.

Have an amazing weekend,

Jacob
