SSIS IB Program Teacher Developments

To respond  to IB directives in our recent Matters to Be Addressed, and to also adhere to IBDP Standards and Practices, we have begun to examine moderation of assessments in each department. This process will take time, but we cannot allow the perfect to become the enemy of the good. Best practices can and will be shared. Any common issue that inhibits our ability to hone our effectiveness as educators will need to be identified and addressed as best that the school is able to do. As the IBDP Standards and Practices are no secret, the document can be found below:

Further, becoming an IB Examiner is also not a secret. The IBDP Coordinator will assist any IB teacher who wishes to become an IB Examiner. There is an application process. You will be paid as an examiner and you will grow as a professional gaining a better understanding of what IB expects from teachers, schools, and students:

Become an IB Examiner

On Thanksgiving (USA) this week, Lara met with the G11 students to give them an overview of the EE process. So that students will have a greater chance for success, the Extended Essay will begin sooner in IBY1 with final submission at the end of September. Any teacher on the campus may be an EE advisor, so be aware that a supervisor EE training will occur some time early in 2017 to address the most recent updates in the Extended Essay process. Lara will be able to provide further information at a later date. Kudos again to Lara for getting our IBY1 students started on the EE.
