9th GRADE MEETINGS:

As shared last week, we have finished meeting with  9th graders in Study Hall  we introduced: SLANT.

We also went over planner usage/electronic calendaring and reminders, notes on phone and stickies.  If you find it beneficial and useful,  continue to have conversations with your students,  just spend time checking in,  or use the SLANT Practice in your classroom.
All GRADE LEVELS:
We have been getting feedback from many students and parents about stress, sleep and hours spent on HW.  We have talked to all the 9th. 11th and 12th graders.  We will be talking to 10th graders in the next couple of weeks. Many 9th and 10th graders are saying they are spending  4+ hours  a night on homework.  If you have time, you may want to check in with your classes to see how many hours a night they are spending on HW.  Overall, a 9th grader at SSIS should have 1 to 1.5 hours each night, 10th grader about two hours and 11th and 12th somewhere between two and four depending on what is due and proper time management.  These are, of course, estimations based on student, parent and teacher feedback.
STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
Here is the STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES SPREADSHEET    that we discussed last week during our student support meeting of all of our students who are receiving services from one or more of our programs.  Learning Support (LS), EAL, and Student of  Concern (SC).  We hope this will help streamline the process.
WEEK WITHOUT WALLS FOR JUNIORS AND SENIORS SEPTEMBER 19 TO 23
We sent out a tentative schedule for September 19 to 23 while 9th and 10th graders are on WWW.  It is close to finalized, but still in progress. Please take a look at the schedule and speak with Robert if there are glaring mistakes or oversights.  Thank you for your patience and support.  Our charge was to work around the CAS retreat for full IB 11th graders and the Group 4 project for 12th graders.
