The End of The First Quarter is Here. So Much Information

All IB Teachers need to input Predictive Grades

Today is the end of the first quarter. Although the high school no longer has an official grade at the end of the first quarter, teachers will still need to provide a comment in PowerSchool for each student. IB teachers will need to add the second Predictive Grade on PowerSchool as well. More seniors are taking advantage of Early Decision and Early Action meaning that they will need IB Predicted Grades soon. The reason and process for inputing IB Predictive Grades (those sooner than the prescribed Predicted Grade in April) can be found here:

Teachers Should Begin the Process of Signing Up for MyIB

As the IB moves away from the OCC and toward My IB, all IB teachers will need to transition as well. My IB is the gateway for IB educators to access the resources, applications and communities they need in your day-to-day IB work, using one username and password.

Once you have registered, you can log in to My IB to access role-related applications.
The Programme Resource Centre replaces the Online Curriculum Centre (OCC) as the place to go for IB curriculum resources.
Join the peer-to-peer Programme Communities, part of an online network of communities of practice replacing the forums on the OCC.

Other applications will be available in My IB depending on the individual’s role. For example, members of the IB Educator Network (IBEN) will see and access IBEN Engage and IBEN Central, heads of school will see and access Heads Engage.

NOTE: the OCC will no longer be updated with new resources and will be decommissioned in the coming months.

Step 1

Copy and paste this link into an email and send it to IB teachers so that they can follow the steps to register with My IB.

Step 2

Everyone who registers will receive an email to confirm their registration. Next, they should log into My IB > click on ‘IB roles’ > select and register for the role(s) they fulfil at your school. One person can register for more than one role as relevant. They can only select one role at a time.

Step 3

Each new and unique registration auto-generates an email to your school’s IB Coordinator asking to  approve and confirm each person’s details within My School. This will ensure that everyone registers for the correct school and role within the system.

IB teachers can now access MyIB and the applications within – the Programme Resource Centre and Programme Communities are already live!

IB CURRICULUM VERTICAL (AND HORIZONTAL) ALIGNMENT

Teachers continued the process of addressing the Aims-Objectives-Skills required by IB for individual classes. The process of vertical and horizontal alignment will occur over the entire year. Many Wednesday Divisional Meetings this year will be dedicated to addressing vertical-horizontal curriculum needs. The goal for 2017-2018 is to solidify the high school curriculum so that we can publish our curriculum/ATLs on Managebac for each IB course. the HS can then be more transparent with the SSIS community for Grades 9 and Grades 10.

IB GROUP 4 PRESENTATION NIGHT

Our current Grade 12 seniors completed the Group 4 Presentation last night. We have outgrown the MPR for the Group 4 Presentation Night. The night began at 6PM and ended around 7:30PM. The results of the night will be published in next week’s Dragon’s Lair.
