Staff Action Needed

Sunshine Committee Beautification Project– Sunshine Committee is organizing a beautification project in the HS on Saturday, April 14 starting at 12pm.  We will be adding some planters along the walkway across from the flags in the Plaza on the second floor.  The work should not be too intensive or too long, but leave a great mark for our students when they return to school on Monday.  While the HS budget will be paying for the plants, soil and planters, your Sunshine dues will get you some well deserved cold refreshments across the street from school when we finish.  Please complete this form to let us know if you are able to come help out.  Additionally, we encourage you to bring your family and/or significant others if you’d like.

AP Pre-administration, April 12– All AP students need to be released from their classes at the end of their D block class on April 12 at 2:30 to the Fitness Lab to prepare for AP examinations.

An exhibition of Y12 Fine Arts Portfolio
18- 20th April 2018
SSIS Auditorium
Opening reception, 19th April 2017 Thursday @ 6:30 pm – 8:30pm

This year’s theme is “Steps”. A step to the next level, a transition etc. In this showcase, IB Visual Arts, IB Music, IB Theater together with AP Studio Art students are honored by way of presenting the candidates together with their final assessment pieces.

The major displays in this exhibition are visual in nature because this is the entire students’ assessment portfolio which will be included in their final submission, unlike the drama and music students were they have already presented and a snapshot of it will be presented tonight.

The visual arts students carefully selected, planned, curated and installed with exhibition texts and curatorial rationale their entire portfolios. Other senior students who are taking visual arts were also invited to join in showcasing their visual art pieces.

The IB music students perform a snapshot of their composition and final IB performance pieces, while the IB theater students present a teaser on what they have performed independently and collaboratively. They also present their directors’ notebook.

Each visual art students has given a particular zone. Tonight is an opportunity to interact with the artists and their pieces, a time where they explain the intention and purpose behind each masterpiece. We encourage therefore the audience to interview, ask questions and mingle with our visual arts candidate as this is part of their assessment.
