Sunshine Committee Dues– The Sunshine committee organizes a number of great events and celebrates and supports those staff members in need over the course of the year. Â In addition to monthly birthday celebrations and organization of departmental breakfasts, Sunshine shows random acts of kindness, flowers and other items to celebrate milestone events in our lives. Â Sunshine will organize a whole staff event each quarter. Â The first will be the HS Social (aka last year’s HS Block Party) at Jacob’s House in September. Â We will be reaching out to staff for your ideas in the coming weeks. Â Sunshine Committee members this year are: Evan, Jacob, Regi, William, and Sean. Â We will be asking for a 500,000 VND contribution to be paid to Evan or William by our August 23rd meeting (we will be collecting money at our Aug 23 faculty meeting).
HS Social: Save the Date– Mark you calendars and save the date for the HS Social on Friday, September 8 starting at 4pm at Jacob’s house. Â More info to follow, but this will be similar to the Sunshine organized HS Block Party last year. Â Spouses, significant others and children are encouraged to attend.
House Points
Please see below an update on the top five teachers giving out house points this year! ANY STAFF can give out house points through the houseleagues website (check your past emails for instructions!).
HS Faculty Supervision / Weekly Duties
Please remember to do your weekly supervision duties.
On the Horizon:
August 31, HS Curriculum Night
September 4, Vietnamese National Day (No School)
September 17-22, HS WWW Trips
Staff Action Needed:
- The ASA,
Mai Am Mai Tam, needs a sponsor. Â Please let Tim know if you are willing help with this ASA.
- Review All School Presentations (See below)
- Review Strategic Plan and Faculty Feedback
All Student Presentations– Tim, Lara, Shelley and others are meeting with every block of study hall students today (Friday, August 11) and yesterday. Â Here is the info they shared (Tim and Lara) with every student during study halls. Â Additionally, here is the presentation that Tim and I gave to the 9/10 (Tim) and 11/12 (Jacob) on Orientation Day for your reference. Â We are trying to solidify some foundational knowledge in our division. Â This info is here to review, so we are all on the same page.
HS Reader Boards– Most of you have probably noticed the LED message boards that have been placed around campus. Â They are portable, but two are in the HS now (at the ground floor entrance and HS Kiosk). Â We will be using these to publicize upcoming events (clubs, sports, service, deadlines, etc) in the HS. Â If you have anything that you wish to put on the message boards please email Jacob and Tim the information by Wednesday each week. Â We will need the name of the event, date, time and location. Â You can also send us a picture if you have one. Â This is brand new, so we are still developing the procedure for staff to best share this info with Jacob and Tim now. Â Something more formalized will come in the near future.
All School Photo, August 18– We are taking the all school photo on the field in between the MS and HS buildings on Friday, August 18 at 8:10 in the morning. Â Students will report to their 1st block classes (E block) first to drop off their bags then walk with them to the Plaza for further instructions. Â We have taken this picture on international day in the past. Â We are taking a 20 year anniversary picture now for the year in the share of a 20. Â We will not be taking another picture this year during international day.
HS Strategic Planning Update– The HSLT thanks the HS Faculty for their feedback on our rough draft of divisional goals linked to the strategic plan. Â Please take note of all of the connections of the strategic plan to the HS division highlighted in yellow. Â Please review this document to see the early ideas of what will propel our work together this year. Â Please talk to your department heads about this in the coming days. Â The HSLT will begin sifting through this to formulate a targeted goals. Â Moreover, we will use this info to plan our faculty meeting time over the course of the year.
