HS Staff meeting January 20, 2021 Continued…..

Thank you everyone for evacuating the HS building yesterday during the last part of our staff meeting yesterday.

Here’s the information that I did not get to share with you in person.

  1.  Early Dismissal day next Friday, January 29th. PD Afternoon
  1. Tet Activities:  We will have modified bell schedules for Thursday, Feb. 4th and Friday, Feb. 5th for Tet activities.  More detailed information will be sent out soon.  On Thursday afternoon we will have a student run Food Fair and a HS assembly in the Auditorium.  On Friday afternoon we will have a House event followed by a Tet celebration on the soccer field.
  1. New Emergency Evacuation Folders.  We are switching to generic evacuation folders.  These will be placed throughout the HS Building (classrooms, offices and we will have some outside).

When the evacuation alarm sounds, grab a folder to take attendance of your Advisory class (all 32 Advisory class lists are inside each folder).  You will line up as in the past with 9.1 Jacob Ferguson being closest to the Plaza and 12.8 Jeff Robidoux being closest to the ES.

Hold up the folder with the Green side out if all your students are accounted for.  Hold the Red side out if you are missing students and need to report it to either a HS secretary or an HS administrator.

  1. Lunch Duties:  Please be sure to schedule your lunch duties on your calendar so that you do not miss attending to your duty.  I know that the alternating lunch times makes it more confusing and easier to miss duties.
  1. Thefts in the HS.  There have been eight thefts reported this year (four each semester).  All involve wallets being stolen or cash being taken from wallets.  Four of the thefts have been from the Girls Lockerroom in the basement during PE class.

Please remind your Advisory students to lock up their valuables and not leave them unattended anywhere in the school.

  1. Class Attendance.  Please remember to take attendance within the first 10 minutes of class.  Ms Vi starts calling parents at 8:30am so it’s really important to have your first block’s attendance taken before 8:25am.
  1.  SSIS Teachers Owe Money to The Caterers.  Please pay off your debt.
  1. HS Sunshine Fund
  1. HS Tet Money for Cleaners and Support Staff.  We collect money from all HS teachers to divide evenly between the HS cleaners and support staff.  Please Pay one of the Sunshine Club teachers or Ms Huyen or Ms .Vi Huynh. We will have a Tet envelope handing over celebration on Feb. 4th or 5th.

Thank you for taking the time to read through all this information.

Please send Tim any questions or concerns that you may have.

Assessment Calendar: Be sure to use the Assessment Calendar for all major assessments and IB due dates. These items should be on the Assessment Calendar two weeks prior to the due date or assessment date.

IBDP As we have done previously, I’d like to collect IB scores for our Year 2 students based on their performance to date in the program. This will allow us to identify students that are in danger of not achieving their IB diplomas in May and ensure we are supporting them to achieve their full potential. These grades will also be used by the counselors for mid-year reports to universities (mainly in the US).
David and Nghi have revised our IB score entry page on PowerSchool to allow us to collect that information there. Please enter an IB performance score for your year 2 students in the Semester 3 column (please do not adjust any of the other scores already entered). This should represent how the student has performed to date and how you expect them to perform in May if their current trajectory continues. EE grades are not needed.

Please have these scores entered on PowerSchool by the end of the day on Thursday, 14 January.

Tripod Reflection Meeting Information-
The results from your Tripod Surveys are attached to this email.
There are a few things that will be useful to you for when you review your feedback.  Tripod Reflection Protocol: This is created by Tripod and will be especially helpful for those who have never done a Tripod survey before.  The information is valuable and there is a reflection worksheet you could use.
Here is a shorter Tripod Survey Reflection Form Template 2020-21 for SSIS.
Here are  the HS Divisional Results for the last four years.
Huyen and Vi will schedule a 20 minute meeting with each of you to talk about your analysis and reflection on the data in January before Tet break.
Please review your data and complete the short reflection form before the scheduled meeting with Tim or Jennifer.

Counselors:
University counselors (Kelly and Sam)
School counselors (Julia and Chris P)
caseload is based on the four Houses to balance out the workload.
