Weekly Update: March 28 – April 1

I am eager to receive and reflect upon my principal survey data in the coming days.  While I believe that I reflect on my practice throughout the year, I know it is impossible to self-assess in all areas.  I know my overall strengths and feel I know most of my growth areas.  I now must wait patiently to get the data that puts my work in context at a new school with a different set of staff expectations and new school culture.  This is my fourth school as an administrator and each brings a unique set of challenges.  What works and resonates with one may fall flat in another.  I am excited to see what theme(s) surface so I can provide the leadership needed to move our amazing school forward.  I will be writing about my reflections regarding my data in the coming weeks here in the Dragon’s Lair.  Thank you again for taking the time to complete my survey.

Have a great weekend,

Jacob

PTC Feedback Day 1–  Parents were genuinely happy with their time with you on Thursday night.  Our setup for the conference provided a bit of distance between the parents at your table and others waiting for you.  In many cases, teachers did not realize that they even had a long line waiting for them.  I will try to get some waiting chairs setup near each of your tables by tomorrow, so you know who is in the queue.  Additionally, remember these conferences are designed for about ten minute interaction with parents.

Post PTC Happy Hour– Come out to the beer club at the Panorama Apartments on Friday from 4:15-6:15 to celebrate the end of a long week and quarter.  Hope to see you there.

March 30 Faculty Meeting– This next meeting will be dedicated to our Week Without Walls program for next year.  The committee will share the trip details for next year and we will begin to find curricular connections leading up to and after our trips in September.

Family Fun Day– Family Fun Day (hosted by our PTA) takes place on Saturday, April 2 from 2:30-5pm.  There will be a lot of great activities available for all age groups.  Please stop by and support our awesome parents for a bit.

Good Luck Douglas– As I mentioned at our faculty meeting this week, Doug has been composing a piece called Sirens for the Esprit Symphonic Orchestra in Toronto.  After many months of work, he is traveling to hear the results of his hard work this weekend.  Safe travels Doug and congratulations!

Good Luck Erin and Kris– Erin and Kris are presenting at EARCOS in Manila this coming week.  Have a great conference and we hope your presentation goes very well.
