Save the Date, April 15 Sunshine Service Trip and Brewery Tour– The Sunshine Committee is organizing an awesome event on April 15.  The event will start around 10am with a service trip to a local orphanage ending around noon.  After spending a couple hours helping kids in need, we will head to district 1 for a brewery tour.  The bus will return to Phu My Hung around 5pm.  You are welcome to stay downtown or head back on the bus.  Significant others are also invited to attend.  Transportation by bus will be provided.  You can attend both or either of these events.  More info and signups to follow, but save the date on your calendars.
Coverage of Classes for WASC Visit– We have more than a 1/3 of the high school involved meeting with our WASC accreditation focus group teams. Â These meetings will take place on Monday and Tuesday (March 21 & 22). Â Huyen will likely be contacting you to help cover/sub for your colleagues classes over those two days. Â We know it’s not ideal, but necessary for us to make the visit successful.
Parent/Teacher Conferences– PTC’s are around the corner. Â They will be held on Thursday, March 23 (5-8pm) and Friday, March 24 (8am-1pm). Â We will be doing “Arena” style conferences in the High School Gym. Â The MS will be using their gym during this time for hands on activities. Â Grades will be published after the conferences, so we recommend that you email the parents of students receiving D’s and/or F’s. Â This would be a great opportunity to make a personal connection with the parents of these at risk students.
New HS Absence Notification Forms–  Just a reminder that we are piloting a new procedure to notify teachers of planned absences for school related functions (MRISA, field trips, MUN, etc).  Instead of coaches giving students one form for students to take around to teachers to sign, they will instead be given smaller slips of paper that will notify teachers of absences (example below).  Tim and I will put events like MUN, MRISA and other trips with a large number of students on our Dragon’s Lair calendar to remind you as well.  These slips are designed to initiate a conversation between the teacher and student about making up work.  We will still use the older form for things like college visits, deaths of family members, and other family events.
Family Fun Day– PTA’s second Family Fun Day of the year takes place on Saturday, March 11 from 2:30-5:30pm. Â Please come out and support our parents and community during a portion of the event.
