Weekly Update: October 2 – 6
|Over the last 24 hours I have noticed how responsive this staff is with professional development. Â After our PD on Project Based Learning and work with our IBDP Papers on Wednesday afternoon, I immediately saw the impact of this work around our campus. Â From hearing your conversations working with Thomas Galvez on the implementation of future Project Based Learning opportunities to seeing teachers already utilizing data and information from the IB Papers that we received (from the IBO) in their classes to share with students, the reaction is quick and focused. Â Thank you for working to improve our students learning experiences.
You are an amazing staff!

Naming Protocol for Log Entries– It has been great to see the large increase in use of our log entry system within PowerSchool. Â As I mentioned at our meeting on Wednesday afternoon, we are now looking to formalizing a naming protocol to help our counselors better analyze student data. Â In the future please use the following in the “Title” line in PS: Current Grade Level of Student – Role/Position – 1-3 work synopsis of issue. Â PS will already collect your name, so all we need is your Pole/Position. Â This is particularly helpful when we are looking through past data and the teacher is no longer at our school. Â For example:
- 10 – Teacher – Consistent Tardies
- 11 – Teacher – Social/Emotional
- 12 – Librarian – Late Books
If you have any questions please see Erin, Robert, Sean, Jacob or Tim.
Grades and Comments Due October 6– Just a reminder that finalized grades and comments for each student need to be finalized before we leave for October break on October 6 at 3pm.
IBDP Science Night– Come out and support your colleagues and DP year two students on Thursday, October 5 from 6-7:30pm in the Auditorium.
HS Faculty Meeting on October 4– Next week’s faculty meeting will continue our work articulating the AP/DP skills needed in grades 11 and 12 and then find the relevant places in our grade 9 and 10 curriculum to support these specific skills development.
Feedback for Grade 11/12 WWW– We will be discussing our programs for grade 11 and 12 students during WWW’s during our October 25th faculty meeting while our memories are still fresh. Â We will be using a Critical Friends Group protocol to help us envision how we can best serve the interests of students during this time frame in the future.
