Head of School Parent Information Letter re Reopening on February 17
|Dear Faculty & Staff,
This is the letter that will be sent to parents in a few minutes. It outlines all updated precautionary measures and protocols.
Have a safe and healthy weekend!
Catriona
———————-
We are excited to inform you that SSIS will reopen on Monday, February 17. Classes will resume as usual unless we receive directives from the Vietnamese authorities to remain closed.
We are looking forward to welcoming students back to class. We have all missed them greatly.
Before students are allowed back on campus, parents must complete the health questionnaire that we sent to all families on Thursday, February 6. If you have not yet completed the questionnaire for your child/children, please do so immediately. You will find the health questionnaire here, in multiple language versions. Students whose health questionnaires have not been submitted by Saturday at 9 am will not be allowed on campus. If you have completed the questionnaire, and there have been changes to your health or travel situation in the last 14 days, please complete this follow-up form.
Please be assured that our health safety protocols and precautionary measures, including temperature screening before entering campus, will remain in place. We remain in close contact with International SOS and our medical professionals, ensuring that we follow the recommended guidelines.
Additionally, we have had to make the following changes due to the directives issued by The Ministry of Health/Ministry of Education and Training. The changes will be in place until further notice.
Entry to Campus
-
Parents are not allowed on the SSIS campus.
-
EC/KG students will be met by their TAs at the turnstiles.
-
All other students will walk to their classrooms on their own.
Health Safety
-
SSIS is enforcing a strict 48-hr symptom-free policy for all faculty, staff, and students that exhibit any signs of illness.
-
We have expanded our nursing staff.
After-School Activities & Athletics
-
All after-school activities and athletics are canceled until further notice.
School Events
-
SSIS has rescheduled large events and canceled others.
-
All field trips will be canceled or postponed.
We understand that these changes will require some adjustments from our community, but your safety is our top priority. And to reopen the school, we are required by the government to follow these directives.
At this time, I would like to express my gratitude for the support that our families have shown during the weeks of Virtual School. Our teachers have been extremely pleased with the engagement levels of our students and the students’ ability to quickly adapt to the tools and techniques used to support their learning during the mandated closure.
Your child’s ability to adapt to unforeseen situations like this is among the valuable skills that our young leaders of tomorrow will need to succeed, and it is a true testament to the high-quality educational experiences that our students are getting at SSIS.
I’m very much looking forward to welcoming students back on Monday. And please, if you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to contact me.
All best wishes,
Dr. Catriona Moran
