SSIS Recognised for “Best Facilities Investment”
|Dear Faculty –
The Department of Education and Training (DOET) in Ho Chi Minh City held their annual meeting with schools with foreign elements last week. The meeting was an opportunity for DOET to share the results of their recent inspections of schools serving international students in this city, to highlight new regulations and expectations for these schools, and to allow for some comments and questions regarding these regulations.
At the close of the meeting, DOET issued its first recognition awards to schools which impressed them during their inspection process. The following awards were presented:
Best Facilities Investment (Saigon South International School – SSIS)
Mission and Vision on World Vision with a Vietnamese Perspective (British Vietnamese International School – BVIS)
Diversity in Designing an Extra Curriculum Program (American International School – AIS)
We are very proud of the facilities we enjoy here at SSIS. Credit belongs first to the foresight of our founders, Lawrence S. Ting and Ferdinand Tsien, who believed that great schools could anchor great communities and who set aside prime real estate in District 7 for their flagship international school. This vision has been carried on by the SSIS Board , which has always supported our growth and expansion. Here on campus, I have to recognise Wai Mun Fong, Associate Head of School for Operations and Finance. While teachers and administrators are rightly focused on teaching and learning, we can only do so because Wai Mun and her groups provide such excellent service and support. We all need to remember to thank the many colleagues we have in facilities, maintenance, cleaning, security, health services, the business office, and human resources for the amazing environment in which each of us can our best work each day.
Sincerely,
Mark
