Welcome to The Dragon’s Lair
|The Dragon’s Lair was created as an interactive weekly high school faculty newsletter.  Moreover, it’s purpose is to be the primary place to get your information, have a lively dialogue with colleagues, and to minimize the flow of messages into your inboxes.  During your exploration of this site, you will find a number of sections that will assist you in your day to day SSIS life.
My section, “Jacob’s Journal”, will be a weekly reflection on my experiences and how that connects to life in the high school.  In the “Counselor’s Corner” you will find advisory lessons, tips for working with SSIS families, and more.  Jeff Nesmith and Jeff Ratliff will be be providing our staff with ways to integrate technology and streamline digital life in their section called “The Matrix”.  It’s a long time in between faculty meetings, so the “Kudos” section will celebrate the help and support of a variety of people.  The “Staff Action Needed” section will remind staff of any impending items that need to be completed like due dates for grading, transformative technology units, and more.  The “Weekly Update” will provide much of the nuts and bolts information that we will try to eliminate from our faculty meetings.  A calendar is also added, so that you can see the important upcoming SSIS and high school events.  And lastly, “The Pulse” section will seek out the feedback from our staff on a variety of areas.  This might include what could be added to an upcoming faculty meeting, feedback for upcoming HS social events and more.
This forum is a work in progress, so we will be adding and even removing sections that do not seem to fit the needs of our staff.  We want this to be a place that you come to once a week or more to be connected and to be in the know.  Additionally, it is meant to be interactive, so feel free to comment on posts that might start a dialogue or ask questions that will provide you clarity.
With that being said…welcome to The Dragon’s Lair.
