Jacob’s Journal: November 20

Molly, Tina and I had an amazing couple of days at Taipei American School this week.  The primary purpose of my visit was to learn about their computer science programs, advisory/guidance offerings, and investigate their honor code.  I learned about this and much more.  While TAS is a much larger and longer established school than ours, it was great to envision some application on our campus.  Moreover, it sparked new ideas and concepts that would positively impact our staff and students here.

What I appreciated most from the visit was the humility of the TAS staff and leadership.  Their school is clearly one of the top schools in the world.  As such, you might expect to see complacency and overconfidence.  Instead, I observed an organization that continues to dream big for their students and community and that consistently reflects on their growth areas.

Our school is the envy of many others in South East Asia.  Our staff, students, programs and facilities are tremendous.  I am excited to dream big together over the next several years with you.  There are great things in store for us and our community.
