68. Coronavirus Update: Places of Concern in HCMC

Dear Faculty and Staff,

The health and safety of you and our school community are our greatest priorities.

From our previous experience, we are aware that when local concerns related to COVID19 rise, rumors tend to circulate, and anxiety increases. We urge you to contact your administrator or Lisa Chute if you are worried, need a rumor dispelled, or just need to talk.

Also, please know that when we receive information about cases with any possible connection to the SSIS community, we seek the advice of the Ho Chi Minh City CDC (HCDC), International SOS, and the Department of Education and Training (DoET). They are informed and supportive. If they consider any potential risks to our community, they will advise us on what measures to take. Suppose a classification of concerns or exposure is needed. In that case, the government authorities are the only bodies authorized to determine that, so we will always consult them.

The Ministry of Health has identified places visited by people who later tested positive for COVID19. They ask us to do our part by notifying them if we visited any of the locations listed here, in the past 14 days.  We will continue to update this link as more information becomes available. If you have visited any of the locations listed, please contact your local Health Authority to ask for guidance.

If you have any concerns that you might have been exposed, please contact us before visiting campus.

We have been extremely fortunate to have avoided dealing with these concerns for many months. And, we appreciate how decisive and proactive the government has proven to be. We also greatly appreciate how cooperative every member of this community is. We will need your continued cooperation as we deal with the current situation.

Below you will find the letter that was sent to parents today. I hope that you will take a moment to read it.

Please take good care of yourselves this weekend. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Head of School Update: Dec 4 HCMC COVID19

Dear SSIS Parents,

I wish to update you on the continued measures that we are taking to ensure our community’s health and safety. Although the most recent cases of COVID19 in Ho Chi Minh City are being closely monitored and regulated by the proper authorities, we need your continued cooperation in the city’s epidemic prevention and control measures.

As the HCMC COVID19 outbreak investigation continues, we are asking that SSIS families use an abundance of caution with regards to our campus. If you have been exposed to a positive case of COVID19, then we ask that you stay away from campus and seek medical assistance. If you have any concerns that you might have been exposed, please contact us before you or your children visit campus. If you have questions or concerns at any time, please contact the SSIS Health Office Manager, Lisa Chute: lchute@ssis.edu.vn

If we receive information about cases with any possible connection to the SSIS community, we will seek the advice of the Ho Chi Minh City CDC (HCDC), International SOS, and the Department of Education and Training (DoET). We will notify you if they consider that there are any potential risks to our community.

Thank you for your cooperation with this ongoing matter. We will update you as more information becomes available.

Please take good care and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

All good wishes,

Dr. Catriona Moran

Head of School
