76. Faculty/Staff Coronavirus Update ASA, Sports and Clubs Cancelled Due to New DOET Directive

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We have sent the message below to parents. Despite concerns about the current outbreak, DOET has indicated commitment to allow students in HCMC to continue learning in physical school and to facilitate the sitting of external exams on campus. We are greatly appreciative of this opportunity for our students.

If you have a scheduled event, please check with Lisa Chute to determine if it can go ahead as planned, be modified, or must be cancelled. She will collaborate with WaiMun and Chris as needed.

We will keep you informed of any changes to the health and security measures at school and in HCMC. In the meantime, thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Take good care of yourselves and please let us know if you have questions or concerns.

All good wishes,
Catriona

Dear Parents,

As a result of directive 1278/SGDDT-CTTT, issued by The Department of Education and Training (DOET), we have canceled all after-school activities (ASAs), after-school clubs, and after-school sports for the remainder of the school year, effective immediately.

Although we know that this will be disappointing to our students and our community, we are grateful that we’ve been able to offer these activities for nearly the entire year.

The Vietnamese government’s extraordinary efforts have kept us safe thus far, and we appreciate everything they are doing to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Please note that the new directive does not impact Vietnamese classes and external exams, which will proceed as planned. Therefore, our external exams, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), and the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) will continue according to schedule.

We are working closely with the DOET and will keep you updated with any new developments. At this time, we hope to proceed with our on-campus Graduation ceremony, as planned.

I appreciate your patience and understanding with this unexpected change to our activities. We will continue to work together to keep our community safe and to ensure that the school year ends on a positive note for your children.

All good wishes,
Dr. Moran
