A Monumental Week

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Although almost all of us are fully vaccinated and enjoying greater freedoms, even under normal circumstances, this time of year is filled with contemplation and considerations for the future. As we round off this week of finalizing the contract commitments for the SY 2022 – 2023, I want to recognize what a stressful time it has undoubtedly been for many of you.

Across the world and all industries, labeling this year somewhat of an anomaly is quite an understatement. The Harvard Business Review refers to it as the “great resignation.” Two years of a worldwide pandemic have certainly caused most of us to reflect on our lives, personally and professionally. Many of us have faced challenges unlike ever before.

Whether you have decided to stay or leave SSIS, you’ve made the right decision. There is no reason to feel guilty or second-guess the choice you have made. Feelings of uncertainty about the future are natural at a time like this. But I know that we will embrace the changes that lie ahead, welcoming them with the growth mindset that we instill in our students. Because that is who we are, and that is what makes our community so extraordinary.

To each of you leaving SSIS at the end of this school year, thank you for your service. You have uniquely impacted the lives of our students. Your dedication and contribution to this community will not be forgotten. I wish you all the best as you determine the next leg of your journey.

Next Tuesday, November 9, at 4 pm, I will host an Interview Lab, and I encourage anyone going through their recruitment process to join me. Even if you are staying at SSIS or not currently in the recruitment process, I welcome you to join. I think (hope) you will find the session interesting and insightful!

As we proceed into Quarter 2 and the rest of this school year, let us all take pride in what we’ve accomplished so far. And let us continue supporting each other and our students as we work to fulfill our mission and to strengthen our wonderful community.

With that, I wish you all a wonderful, restful weekend.

All good wishes,

Catriona
