Construction Update # 4

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Thank you for your meaningful contributions last week to our work with Flansburgh Architects on determining program and facilities considerations for school expansion. We have made excellent progress.

The schedule for the next two workshops is:

September 10-12, 2019 – Workshop 2
November 4-6, 2019 – Workshop 3

In September, Flansburg will focus on the spatial relationship between programs and facilities. We will have the opportunity to work with physical blocks representing every space, program and relationship. How exciting!

In November, Flansburg will focus on how to expand the school in phases with the least amount of disruption to SSIS.

Every team and individual who met with David and Madeleine expressed confidence in their understanding of SSIS, our current program and facilities, and our desires and needs for the future. In addition, their level of program understanding and architectural expertise is greatly appreciated. I think that we are most fortunate in our choice of architects.

Regarding, the summer expansion project, we have not been as fortunate.  As we are still waiting for the Legal Permit for phase 1, construction is on hold. We will keep you updated, as we have more information.
